Long Bio
Gusto is a Dominican American DJ and producer, born and raised in the Bronx. Growing up in 90s New York, he found his way to music through two paths at once. Underground house and techno introduced by his sister, and the reggaeton and dembow he absorbed through friends and the culture around him. Both left their mark. Today, his sound is firmly electronic but carries the weight of Latin rhythm beneath it, a reflection of the worlds he grew up between.
After relocating to Pittsburgh, Gusto immersed himself in the city's electronic community, steadily refining his craft and his presence behind the decks. His music is a conversation between those early influences and his continued evolution as a producer and DJ. It's a way of honoring where he comes from while reaching toward something new.
He is a resident DJ and booker at Pittsburgh's legendary Hot Mass, where his after-hours parties have become known for drawing passionate, energized crowds that keep the dancefloor alive until the lights come on. Alongside a tight-knit team, he runs DETOUR, a house and techno imprint that has released standout work from artists he believes in. He also heads Miscellaneous (MISC), a label that pairs intentional visual art with downtempo electronic music that moves beyond the walls of house and techno.
For all he's built as a promoter and label head, Gusto comes most alive behind the decks. His sets have been described as transformative. Expressive, patient, and deeply attuned to the room. Years of dedicated practice have given him the rare ability to meet a crowd where it is and take it somewhere, the mark of a DJ whose craft is inseparable from his heart.
Miscellaneous Records A genre-less label exploring Pittsburgh's ever-evolving electronic scene, documented through record releases, visual media, and events.
DETOUR Residing at the intersection of house and techno, DETOUR is a Pittsburgh collective creating visually and sonically immersive experiences.
