Pittsburgh based by way of New York City, Naeem, began DJing as a member of the college radio station WRCT. He joined the station with a heavy interest in learning about 90’s Hip Hop. However through exploring the stations large music library and the influence of his peers he developed an interest in the sounds of Chicago house and Detroit Techno. This growing interest in music featuring synthesized sounds and drums, led him to explore the cities dance music scene, often times attending events by local promoters such as VIA. Through these explorations he came to meet like minded individuals, ultimately joining them to form “Detour” in 2012.
